Wait, Kate Middleton Personally Bakes Birthday Cakes for Each of Her Children?

Just because she’s royal doesn’t mean Kate Middleton uses outside help for everything. In fact, the Duchess of Cambridge just revealed that she makes homemade birthday cakes for her three children: Prince George (6), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1).

Middleton recently appeared on Mary Berry’s BBC holiday special A Berry Royal Christmas alongside her husband, Prince William. During the segment, the duchess revealed that she has a passion for baking—so much so that she’s created an annual tradition where she stays up late on the eve of her children’s birthdays, so they can wake up to a delicious treat.

“I love making the cake,” Middleton told Berry, according to Hello! magazine. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I make far too much. But I love it.”

Also, while discussing her youngest child Prince Louis, Middleton admitted that one of his first words was “Mary” thanks to the large number of cookbooks she owns.

“One of Louis’s first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf,” she said, as BBC reports. “And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry.’ So, he would definitely recognize you if he saw you today.”

Still, one question remains: Funfetti or classic white cake?
