In a move certain to pull at the heartstrings of all parents sending their kids back to the classroom this time of year, Kate Middleton donned a timely piece of jewelry in honor of her three children while attending a joint outing at the Natural History Museum with Prince William today.
Kate Middleton Wears Sentimental Tribute to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis
Such a sweet (and thoughtful) nod

The delicate gold necklace, which could be seen beneath the collar of her white button-down shirt, featured charms with the letters “C” and “L” in plain sight. Though not visible today, “G” is there, too, something we know as this particular piece—thought to be the Gold Alphabet Necklace by Daniella Draper—has been in her royal jewelry box since 2021. (The Princess of Wales was first pictured wearing it during a Scotland tour that spring.)

Today’s royal engagement marked Kate and William’s first official outing post-summer, but it also happened to take place just one day after dropping Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis off at school. (Lambrook School, where all three royal children attend, re-opened their classroom doors for the new year on September 3.)

There was no formal photo shared by the Wales family this year, which is why Kate’s subtle acknowledgment—in jewelry form—felt extra meaningful. It’s also an easy way to keep her three kids close to her heart while navigating a return to royal work.
This particular school year likely carries extra emotions for Kate and William as it’s the last year that Prince George is able to attend the same school as his siblings. Next summer, he’ll turn 13, which means he’ll age out of the co-educational prep school. (Mum’s still the word in terms of where he’ll attend next fall.)
Major royal changes made easier with thoughtful details—something we can all relate to.
