Kate Middleton Stuns in a Navy Velvet Gown by Her Favorite Designer, Alexander McQueen

Kate Middleton just reminded us why Alexander McQueen is one of her favorite designers. This time, all it took was a velvet dress.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Diplomatic Corps reception, an annual event for 1,000 guests including ambassadors, high commissioners and government officials, on Wednesday evening. The event was hosted by Queen Elizabeth.

For the occasion, Middleton opted for a navy velvet gown by Alexander McQueen that she paired with a Nizam of Hyderabad necklace and her go-to headpiece—the Lover’s Knot or Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara. She topped off her look with a sash and medals signifying honors bestowed to her by Her Majesty.

The floor-length gown featured a deep V-neckline and long sleeves. McQueen has long been one of the duchess’s go-to designers. Not only does she consistently rock looks by current creative director Sarah Burton (last month's black lace gown for example), but the brand is responsible for her wedding dress.

If you didn’t know Middleton walked down the aisle in a custom-made Alexander McQueen gown for her 2011 nuptials to Prince William. The design featured a n featured a V-neckline, ivory lace bodice and long sleeves.

Once again, Alexander McQueen, FTW.
