John Legend Just Got the Ultimate Swimming Lesson from a Very Famous Former Olympian

Look out 2020 Olympics, there’s a new swimmer ready to compete, and his name is John Legend

Yes, you read that correctly. The father of two just revealed he’s been taking swim lessons from a very famous Olympian: Ryan Lochte. OK, so maybe Legend isn’t training for the Olympics…yet. But by the looks of this video, we totally can see the potential.

It’s been a few short months since we heard that John Legend was learning to swim in order to join his kids (Luna and Miles) in the pool. Back in January, Legend tweeted about taking his first swimming lesson since the age of 5 and it looks like the 40-year-old singer has come a long way since.

Legend also shared that his father, Ronald Stephens, didn’t learn how to swim until he was in his 60s. It seems John is following in Dad’s footsteps with his later-in-life swimming start.

Legend and Lochte documented their lesson in a video posted to both of their social media pages.

“Not a bad way to start my week. Swimming with @johnlegend giving him some swim tips and getting him ready for 2020 Olympics haha!,” Lochte captioned the video.

The All of Me singer recently opened up to People about his newfound confidence. “I was never afraid to go in the pool, but I was afraid to go in the deep end,” he said. “I’m happy that I’m able to live with less fear and be able to swim with my kids. It just opens up a lot more opportunities. I just want to be comfortable in any water settings. So if we’re out on a boat on the ocean, if we’re in a pool, no matter where we are.”

Chrissy, we’re counting on you to document future family pool visits on Twitter.
