Jennifer Hudson, 41, knows a thing or two about achievements. (We mean, she's got an EGOT after all.) And this weekend, the Dreamgirls star celebrated a major achievement for her 13-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., as he graduated from middle school.
Hudson posted a shot that captured her standing with her teenage son and seemingly adjusting something on his robe in the picture. “My baby Graduated, Y'all!!!!!!” Hudson wrote. “DOJ!!!!!!! #classof2023 #proudmom.”
A few followers noted that David seemed to be growing up in the blink of an eye. One user comically wrote, “What you mean graduated?? I thought he was like 6 [crying emoji].” And while a few others thought Hudson was saying her son had graduated from high school, she clarified in her following post.
The Empire star wrote: “It’s official!!! My baby is a high schooler now! We had such a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends. I am sooo proud of you DOJ ! Team Jhud can y'all help give DOJ a huge congratulations!”
In a subsequent slideshow posted by the star, we see Hudson posing next to her young graduate, wearing a multicolored wrap dress and looking like a proud mom. Other photos feature friends and family members who were there to celebrate the 13-year-old, including Hudson's sister, Julia. Hudson even got a plane to fly by with a congratulatory message for her son.
David, whom Hudson welcomed in August 2009, is her only child. She shares the teen with her ex-fiancé, professional WWE wrestler David Daniel Otunga, 43. Hudson and Otunga were engaged in 2008, but separated in 2017.
