Taylor Swift had a huge reason to celebrate to celebrate last weekend—and honestly, I don’t blame her for making it a whole moment. On Friday, May 30, she casually dropped the bombshell that she now officially owns her master recordings. Not long after the news broke, Taylor was spotted out to dinner in NYC with Selena Gomez. Celebration vibes? Very likely.

But now that the internet has had a minute to process the news, a bigger question is floating around: how much did it cost to buy back her life’s work?

Here’s what we know. Taylor reportedly repurchased her masters from Shamrock Capital—the private equity firm that acquired them from Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings in 2020. According to Billboard, sources say the final sale price was relatively close to what Shamrock originally paid: around $360 million. Yep. You read that right.

Swift kept the announcement characteristically low-key (yet deeply meaningful) with an Instagram post. In the photo, she’s lounging on the floor in jeans and a lavender tee, surrounded by every album she’s ever released. The caption? A simple “You belong with me” and a string of colorful heart emojis.

She also linked out to a personal letter on her website dedicated to her fans and to the long, winding journey that led her here. In it, she confirmed that she now owns everything: the albums, the videos, the tour films, the vault tracks, the artwork… every single piece of her legacy.

As for Reputation (Taylor’s Version)? Don't hold your breath.

“Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it,” she admitted, calling it the one album that felt complete from the start.
