Exclusive: ‘GLOW’ Star Britney Young Says the Cast Switches Roles for an Episode in Season 3

GLOW season three is right around the corner. And although, thanks to the trailer, we know things are changing drastically for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (hello, Vegas!), there’s one major change on the horizon that no one saw coming.

When PureWow sat down exclusively with GLOW star Britney Young, who plays Carmen, she revealed that not only do the girls evolve while living and working in Las Vegas—they even switch roles.

“We have an episode where our characters switch wrestling personas,” Young, 30, revealed. Yep, so Ruth (Alison Brie) might play Liberty Bell (Betty Gilpin) and vice versa. That’s pretty surprising.

Young opened up about the nerve wracking but enjoyable experience, saying, “It was really fun to play each other and see someone interpret the way we act.”

She played coy when discussing who she turns into for obvious reasons but was happy to divulge details from the day it happened. “I was really nervous to shoot that scene because [the actress I paid homage to] was there. She wasn’t shooting, but she came to watch. I was so nervous when we did the rehearsal that I was like, ‘I don’t want her to get upset and maybe I’m not doing it right.’”

In the end, both Young and her co-star were more than pleased with how the switch-up scenes turned out. “She was laughing so hard, she was crying. Her husband was there and he was just dying. She came up afterwards and was like, ‘That was amazing. I am so excited. This is perfect.’ She was so pumped that she got me pumped,” Young explained.

She went on to say that her co-star’s enthusiasm continued to grow after watching the episode. “She texted me afterwards, and she was like, ‘It’s amazing. I’m so happy. It just gives me a smile,’” Young revealed. “And I was like, ‘Yes! Thank you. That’s what I was going for.”

The question remains: Who will Carmen turn into? Don’t ask us why, but our money’s on Ruth.
