Gabrielle Union Shares Rare Snaps of Her Mom on IG After Throwing Her a 75th Birthday Celebration

We're well aware that Gabrielle Union is devoted to her family, given the many posts she shares to Instagram that highlight her time spent with them. But in her latest slideshow, Union posted photos of a family member that we don't get to see very often—her mother, Theresa.

As it turns out, there was a special reason for Union's latest post, because her mother recently celebrated her 75th birthday. To honor the major milestone, Union threw a party for her mother in her spacious backyard and she shared pics and clips from the event (including shots of the birthday girl) to Instagram, saying, “Happy 75th Birthday Mom!!!!”

In the rest of her caption, Union wrote, “What a blessing to be able to ring in the big 7-5 with ALL 7 of your siblings, most of your nieces and nephews, grandkids, chosen family and even your ex-husband and forever sister-in-law [smiling face with hearts emoji]. May you continue to shut down the dance floor and drop it like it's hot. WE LOVE YOU!!!!”

The carousel begins with a solo shot of Theresa, who wore a parmesan-colored blazer and matching trousers from NY & Company, along with a white button-up and sunhat.

In the rest of the slideshow, we can see other members of Union's family who attended the event, and also that Union went for a NY&Co. design herself by wearing a royal blue dress from the brand. In one special slide, Union's daughter, Kaavia James, 3, brings a bouquet of flowers (made out of balloons) to her grandmother, who says, “Oh wow, that's neat!” The final slide also shows the birthday gal giving a speech, where she thanks all the attendees for helping her to celebrate the big day.

Fellow celebs wished the matriarch happy birthday in the comments, like Union's frequent stylist, Thomas Christos Kikis, who said, “Special day for a very special and loved woman.” Meanwhile, artist Bisa Butler wrote, “Happy birthday to your beautiful Mom!”

Union also turned the event into a combined Easter celebration, which she shared in another post, where we can see that major celebs like Queen Latifah attended the event too.
