Eric Stonestreet is starting a modern family of his own. The 49-year-old actor is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Lindsay Schweitzer.
The Modern Family star shared the exciting news on Sunday in an Instagram post, featuring a series of photos of himself and his fiancée showcasing her new bling. Naturally, he used the occasion to post a witty caption, writing, “She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people.’”
In the snaps, we see the newly engaged couple sitting at a table. While Schweitzer appears smiling in all three photos, Stonestreet shows a series of emotions, including a smile, a shocked face and a serious pout.
The post received almost half a million likes as well as over 5,000 comments. One IG user wrote, “Congratulations! That’s awesome,” while a second added, “Awwww congratulations my man!”
Of course, he also received messages of support from Modern Family costars and even got a message from pal Sofia Vergara’s son, Monolo Vergara, who chimed in, “Congratulations!!!!!!!”
While the couple has tended to keep their five-year relationship out of the spotlight, Stonestreet previously opened up about his pediatric nurse girlfriend on a 2017 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Per People, when the television host called the actor a hypochondriac, he responded, “I'm a big baby, too. She calms me—she calms my nerves. I'm a very high-strung person. You can tell, right? What are you looking at, ma'am?!" he shouted at a woman in the audience before adding: "My nurse girlfriend will take care of you.”
