I Observed Duchess Sophie at a Recent Royal Event & Her Body Language Speaks Volumes

I spy a pattern

Duchess Sophie is getting into the holiday spirit, and her body language says it all. Last week, when I spotted her at Kate Middleton’s annual holiday concert, the royal was all smiles when she stepped out in a white jacket and patterned skirt. And now, the 59-year-old royal is bringing the Christmas cheer at a special charity event.

On Instagram, the royal family shared a few highlights from the duchess's recent visit to the Disability Initiative Resource Center in Camberley, and it appears the duchess was in her element when she joined the charity's clients for a few festive activities. The caption reads, "The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron of Disability Initiative, enjoyed a special Christmas visit to the charity’s resource center."

"Her Royal Highness, who has been patron of Disability Initiative since 2003, participated in various activities with clients of the charity. These activities are tailored to the specific needs of adults with disabilities, aimed at enhancing overall well-being and quality of life. Some of these activities involved Christmas caroling, painting and even mince pie making."

In the first slide of the post, Duchess Sophie faces one of the clients and maintains eye contact, giving him a genuine smile as they engage in conversation. Her open and relaxed body language shows that she is deeply passionate about the charity's cause and eager to get to know the clients.

The same could be said for the second slide, where Sophie is donning an apron and making mince pies alongside another client. She wears the biggest smile as she organizes ingredients for the recipe, and in the third slide, Sophie flashes another big grin at the camera, indicating that she feels happy to be part of this initiative.

In the final pic, she plays the triangle while sitting amongst a group of clients. In the comments, one fan wrote, "Her smile is everything, and she is always delighted to participate in activities during engagements." Another added, "Lovely to see Sophie at the center of this charity at Christmas time. She really is an amazing genuine woman."

This isn't the first time the royal paid a visit to the Disability Initiative Resource Center. In December 2021, she went in honor of the UN International Day of Persons with a Disability and even donned a festive Santa-themed alice hair band.

During her visit, she participated in a music and drama session, helped create chocolate Christmas sculptures and decorated some festive wreaths.

By the looks of her previous pics from 2021, the duchess typically dons a wide smile during her visits, which shows that she genuinely enjoys her quality time with the charity's clients and staff during the holidays. Also, I imagine that this initiative hits close to home because her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, was born with a rare condition called esotropia, which causes the eyes to turn outward.

I'm guessing this won't be the last time I spot the beaming Duchess Sophie participating in a holiday-themed event, so I'll keep my eyes open.
