Daniel Radcliffe Texted Rupert Grint After the Birth of His Baby Girl: ‘I’m So Happy’

Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) is officially a dad, which means Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is officially an uncle (yes, yes, we know they're not actually brothers, but fictional in-laws certainly count).

Earlier this month, Grint and his longtime girlfriend, actor Georgia Groome, welcomed their first child together. As it turns out, his HP co-star and close pal, Radcliffe, spoke with him about his new baby girl.

During a recent (virtual) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Radcliffe was asked if he had been in touch with Grint since the news broke.

“Yes, I texted him the other day. I'm so happy for him. It's very, very cool," he told host Andy Cohen. "It's also, like, super weird for me to think that we are all at the age where we are having children but we definitely are.” When Cohen revealed that it’s pretty weird for all fans of the franchise, Radcliffe replied, "I'm sure it is. I remember when I turned 30, a lot of people in my life were really depressed to find that that had happened."

On May 7, E! News broke the baby news. “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,” a source told the outlet. “We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”

The couple was able to keep their secret under wraps for a solid eight months. We first learned about Groome’s pregnancy earlier this month when they were photographed during an outing in London.

Still no word on a name yet, though. We bet Harry, Daniel knows.
