Sad news for Christie Brinkley fans!

Her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook will replace her on Dancing with the Stars (cue both sad and happy tears). Brinkley suffered multiple injuries during rehearsals, which will prevent her from continuing on in the competition.

In a statement given to Good Morning AmericaBBC Studios and ABC broke the news about her injuries and the next step for the remainder of the season. Brinkley went on Instagram to share the casting change, which was all praise and excitement for her daughter.

"Showbiz is getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on Dancing With the Stars this season," she said, joking about her injury. "Sailor joined the cast when I got mine...ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!"

The 21-year-old model only had three days to learn her routine (while all the other stars including her mother had three weeks to prepare) before hitting the dance floor for Monday's premiere. She was praised by the judges and got a score of 18 out of 30 for her "Uptown Girl" foxtrot.

She told Good Morning America that she took on this role in honor of her mother, knowing she loves dancing and performing and was disappointment by the unexpected turn of events. Christie Brinkley isn't the first star to get injured on DWTS, following in the "footsteps" of Pamela Anderson, Bill Nye and Marie Osmond. (Dancing is no joke.)

We look forward to seeing Sailor dance her way through the competition with her mother cheering her on along the way.
