Céline Dion is the queen of sleek, elegant ponytails. For instance, the songstress pulled her hair back to record a special Mother's Day message earlier this month, and in March, she donned a similar style at the TGL presented by SoFi match. However, this week, the iconic singer took to Instagram and surprised fans by reintroducing one of her boldest hairstyles yet.

In the post, Dion shared a collection of throwback pics from the early 2000s, when she ditched her signature long hair and debuted a spiky, bleach blonde pixie cut with dark roots. She wrote, "Short hair, big vibes!"

Some fans did a double-take after seeing the nostalgic look because it reminded them of another singer: Australian native Troye Sivan. Since the artist typically wears short, bleach blonde hair with dark roots, it's understandable why some of Dion's followers nearly mistook her for the "Better Place" singer.

One fan commented, "Help, I thought this was Troye Sivan." Another quipped, "@troyesivan is that you?"

While several fans drew comparisons to Sivan, others praised Dion's bold look, including one follower who wrote, "You look beautiful, Ms Dion!"

The singer has always been outspoken about her affinity for shorter hair. For example, shortly after she debuted short blonde curls in 2003, she told ABC, "I don't think I made a mistake because I can always have long hair tonight with a wig on my head. There's times that I like my short hair very much. When I go play golf, when I'm a mommy, when I go out of the pool. That's great, it works very nice."

The "I'm Alive" singer also sat down with Vogue in 2024 and reacted to a throwback pic of her bleached short hair, saying, "I don't want to sound pretentious, but I think I look good. That hair was because I was already on stage. My first residency with Franco Dragone with 'A New Day,' and my hair got bleached and short, and shorter and shorter and shorter. Women do that, and it's fun."

Dion's latest throwback comes just a few months after she marked the 25th anniversary of her hit song "That’s the Way It Is," giving fans a glimpse of her '90s 'Rachel' hairstyle and rare footage from the making of the video.

Whether it's pin-straight highlights, short curls, or a pixie cut, it's safe to say that Dion can pull off nearly any hairstyle.
