The Latest ‘Cats’ Trailer Featuring Taylor Swift Is Here (& It Still Looks Terrifying)

Curious about the upcoming movie adaptation of Cats? Allow these brand-new teasers to give you a glimpse of what’s to come.

Universal Pictures recently dropped not one, but two official trailers for Cats, and (disclaimer!) the CGI effects are mildly horrifying. (You’ve been warned.)

In the first clip, which dropped in July, we’re introduced to the tribe of cats, including Macavity (Idris Elba), Jennyanydots (Rebel Wilson), Old Deuteronomy (Judi Dench), Grizabella (Jennifer Hudson), Bombalurina (Taylor Swift) and Bustopher Jones (James Corden).

The second trailer, which just came out, gives us a better idea of the story, which follows the gang as they decide who will make the annual ascent to the Heaviside Layer.

“Tonight is a magical night, where I choose the cat that deserves a new life,” Old Deuteronomy says in the clip.

While there’s no denying the soundtrack and choreography are spectacular, the internet can’t stop talking about the downright terrifying “cats.”

Some Twitter users compared it to other CGI wins, writing, “The fact that Cats is basically a more realistic Avatar is horrifying, but I literally CANNOT WAIT.” While others pointed out the obvious: “It’s a bunch of people dressed like cats…what did everyone expect?! Of course it’s terrifying.”

Sure, we already knew that the costumes would be completely different from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway musical. However, we never expected to see our favorite actors’ faces plastered on realistic feline bodies…and that’s exactly what happened.

Cats will hit theaters on December 20.
