What a historic day

It's been a busy week for the Danish royal family.

On September 5, King Frederik and Queen Mary stepped out for a day of festivities for National Flag Day honoring Danish Armed Forces, where the couple took part in the traditions of walking in the holiday's parade and laying a wreath for fallen soldiers deployed on a mission by Denmark. The couple also attended the memorial service earlier in the day in Holmens Church.

There were several images captured from the historic day, including striking photos of Queen Mary standing by herself at Christiansborg Castle Square while the King led the march of the Flag Day parade with nearly 1,200 Danish soldiers in attendance standing. See both photos down below.

For the day's events, Mary sported a deep green dress, a black headband and heels, paired with a sophisticated beige trench coat—which is very on brand for the stylish royal. See her walking among the troops above, and below she's captured alone near the Danish palace.

The official Danish royal family Instagram account also posted several photos capturing the day, including shots of the King and Queen side-by-side paying their respects.

The caption read, "Their Majesties the King and Queen mark the day through the Flag Day for Denmark's envoys. At the Castle in Copenhagen, the Royal Couple began the day by honoring fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Monument of Denmark's International Efforts after 1948."

Alongside Mary, Frederik wore his traditional military garb adorned with various medals of honor.

The caption continued, "Flag Day for Denmark's Deputies was solemnly celebrated for the first time in 2009, and the purpose of the day is to honor the persons who are or have been deployed on a mission by Denmark as well as to recognize the professional efforts they make and have made in a number of conflict areas around the world."

With Mary participating in the official opening of Nature Week alone earlier this month, it's great to see the couple attend royal duties together. I wonder what other royal events we can expect from the duo in the future.
