Just because they’re animated doesn’t mean they’re reserved solely for children.
The 91st annual Academy Awards took place tonight at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the highly coveted award for Best Animated Feature.
The film beat out Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
While the Best Animated Feature category might seem self-explanatory, it’s not. In fact, there are several requirements that a movie has to meet in order to qualify for the award. Not only does it need to use a frame-by-frame technique, but it also needs to feature animated figures in at least 75 percent of the film’s entirety.
