Meghan Markle’s go-to fashion house, Givenchy, is going the Sweetener route.

The Clare Waight Keller–run brand announced today that pop star Ariana Grande will be the new face for fall 2019. Not exactly what we expected from the Duchess of Sussex’s tried and true, but we’re into it.

Grande and Givenchy announced the news in tandem via social media with a series of Breakfast at Tiffany’s–inspired photos and videos in which her signature ponytail takes center stage.  

In a statement, Givenchy explained that Grande “embodies the spirit of the Givenchy woman with impertinence, generosity and lightning wit—all cloaked in a touch of mystery.”

To this editor, Grande feels more Versace than Givenchy, but that’s neither here nor there.

The Grammy winner also released a statement about joining forces with Givenchy, which according to her caption in the post above, has since been dubbed #Arivenchy.

“I am so proud to be the new face of Givenchy. It is a House I have forever admired and to now be part of that family is such an honor,” Grande said.

She went on to say, “I love this clothing and the confidence and joy it brings to the people wearing it. Not only is the clothing timeless and beautiful but I'm proud to work with a brand that makes people feel celebrated for who they are, and unapologetic about whatever they want to be.” If anyone knows how to be unapologetic (ahem, “Thank u, next”) it’s Ari.

The illustrious fashion house will unveil its fall-winter 2019 campaign starring Grande in July.
