A bright red enameled Dutch oven on your stovetop is practically a right of passage these days. And rightfully so: The price tag of the cult favorite Le Creuset runs around $300, minimum. So needless to say we were shocked when we spotted this AmazonBasics look-alike that comes in at less than $60.
From what we can gather, it was originally listed on Amazon on March 26 and has garnered five-star reviews ever since. Made of heavy-duty cast iron and available in three sizes (up to 7.5 quarts), this Dutch oven is oven- and stovetop-safe and boasts even heating for everything from minestrone to beef stew.
And about those reviews? There might only be 50 (for now), but considering it’s only been available for two months, that’s not too shabby. A few mentioned that the pot isn’t quite as nonstick as a Le Creuset and noted that they haven’t had it long enough to know how it holds up over time—especially against Le Creuset’s lifetime warranty—but overall, all reviewers were pleasantly surprised with its quality.
Sure, you may not be able to stock up on these in millennial pink and emerald green—it only comes in blue and red for now—but we’ll trade in a rainbow collection for an extra $200. (Here’s hoping they’ll start expanding soon.)
