Adele Breaks Into Tears During Highly Emotional Final Carpool Karaoke with James Corden

Adele just teamed up with James Corden for an emotional farewell to Carpool Karaoke.

This week, the 34-year-old singer surprised the talk show host in honor of his final week at The Late Late Show. (Corden’s last day will be Thursday, April 27.)

In the episode (see above), Adele goes to Corden’s home and gives him a wake-up call. She says, “Last week of shows, I’m going to drive you to work. Let’s do the final Carpool [Karaoke].”

Unlike previous rides, Adele is the driver even though she’s not confident in her abilities. “I’m actually not a brilliant driver, so…” she confesses, to which Corden responds, “I know you’re not a brilliant driver. I’m well aware of this.”

“I also can’t sing without closing my eyes,” Adele says right before she nearly crashes into another vehicle. “I can’t believe I just pulled out of your drive and nearly crashed.”

During the drive, the duo belt Adele songs while discussing their favorite moments from The Late Late Show. “You’re one of my best friends in the whole world. I’m gonna miss you so much,” Adele says through tears. “I’m just not ready to come back [to England], otherwise I would come back with you.”

The singer also explains how the first verse in her song “I Drink Wine” was inspired by a conversation between her and Corden. “You just seemed down, and you let it all out to me and… we were having, what, a six-hour conversation about it?” Adele explains. “It was like the whole way home. But it got me thinking, I felt so unsafe with you feeling unsafe… And then I went to the studio a couple of weeks later, and I wrote this.”

Corden adds, “It was everything that I was feeling that day. I was floored by how you’d managed to take everything that I was feeling about myself and life and just put it in a verse.”

What a ride.
