I’ve got terrible sleep hygiene, spending way too much time in bed tapping at my laptop and binge-watching shows with my boyfriend. All this bed-centric behavior makes it not only hard for my body to associate getting in bed with actually sleeping, but my bed-rotting wears out my mattresses sooner. Specifically, I have been known to create lumps where I prop myself up to work. And even normal sleeping patterns, like that of my boyfriend, can cause what I call the “spouse dip,” the sagging area that gets worn in where your body naturally settles to sleep. Memory foam or no, the sagging spouse dip is uncomfortable and bad for spinal alignment—so after only a year, I found myself wanting a new mattress.
But I won’t have that problem again a year from now since I’ve been sleeping on the Durable brand mattress. Its special, high-end design makes it last twice as long as a traditional mattress. Durable, which comes in soft, medium and firm formats, is made to be used on both sides and flipped every three to six months. Unlike most contemporary makes of mattress, it is designed to be as soft and supportive on one side as the other, with both top and bottom layered with cooling fabric, memory foam and transitional foam.
