The launch features five autumnal shades—sapphire, tourmaline, jade, rose quartz and silver topaz—that were all inspired by gemstones. Each blanket is handcrafted from an ultra-soft, luminous velvet material that’s spun and brushed into a smooth, signature fabric. Plus, it comes in three sizes, including 15, 20 and 25 pound weights, so you can choose one that will be just right for your personal sleep preferences. (FYI: Most experts recommend looking for one that's about 10 percent of your body weight.)
Not only is the blanket's cozy texture ideal for the cooler months, but it's great for helping to relax during what can be the jolliest—and most stressful—time of the year. Just like all of Bearaby’s products, the Velvet Napper is designed to promote better, longer sleep by evenly distributing weight across your body, and in the process, reducing cortisol levels and increasing serotonin. (A claim doctors and recent research backs up.)
And, while we’re definitely coveting all of these dreamy colors and cozy textures, perhaps what we love most about this blanket is its sustainable construction. In an effort to combat the current plastic crisis, Bearaby designed their Velvet Napper with “eco-velvet,” which is made from recycled marine plastic. As a result, each blanket prevents about 900 bottles from polluting our oceans, according to the manufacturer.
Still on the fence? Here’s an enthusiastic review that might change your mind: “This blanket fixes every problem I've had with other blankets. The velvet is soft and cozy, and since the weight is in the material itself, there's no awkward shifting around. [Plus] there are no beads, and you can lie on top of it comfortably. And because it's woven, it stays cool and comfortable, even in Las Vegas. [Furthermore], the extra grip of the velvet helps it stay in place all through the night.”
