Everyone loves piling into your place because you know how to throw a really fun party (obviously)—and, let’s be honest, you’ve got the good TV. Next time, step up your game with these six simple but totally brilliant tips.
Everything You Need to Host Your Next Game-Day Party
Prep Your Stadium Seating
First things first: Make sure you have a seat for everyone (the floor doesn’t count). If sofa space is tight, plan ahead and get some folding chairs. Yep, the one you take camping is totally acceptable.
Create Simple Snack Trays
When it comes to game day, we want our food and drinks to be two things: 1) no fuss (i.e., easy to consume while cheering on our favorite team) and 2) full of flavor. That’s why we turn to chilled bottles of refreshing Coke served alongside chicken Parmesan bites. A classic beverage paired with a modern version of one of our favorite comfort foods is all we ever needed.
Show Your Spirit With Paper Plates
Recyclable serving dishes, plates, napkins and utensils make cleanup a breeze, plus they’re a fun way to add some extra flair. Stash a basket of hand wipes nearby for people to grab when they’re done digging into finger foods.
Get Crafty With Decorations
Stringing up some festive banners? Use them to fence in the party area to keep the mess contained. Instead of a plastic tablecloth, spread out some butcher paper and add yard lines with colored tape. Finally, a few feet of plastic grass can go a long way: Cut it into squares for fun coasters or a long strip to create a table runner.
Provide Some Entertainment
Other than, well, the game itself. Think football bingo, tabletop shuffleboard, kid-size foam footballs and cheerleading pom-poms to keep everyone (especially the little ones) busy during the commercial breaks.
Fight Spills Before They Happen
Assemble an emergency cleanup caddy full of your favorite spot-cleaning products, rags and rubber gloves. Include a stain-remover stick for clothing and you’ll truly be the hostess with the mostess.
