Burger King Just Launched a SpongeBob SquarePants-Themed Menu (& It’s Totally OTT)

Are ya ready, grown-ups?!

Burger King

Remember the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab Meal that launched in 2024? As much as I enjoyed the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, its other components were pretty standard (read: regular fries and a burger with “super special secret sauce” that tasted like a mayo/mustard blend). That’s why I was so psyched to hear about Burger King’s new SpongeBob Movie menu, which just hit stores on December 2.

It took the theme and ran, creating on-the-nose odes to fans’ favorite characters. I’m talking a Whopper on a bright yellow, square bun, a Patrick-pink dessert, a pineapple float and more. Below, you’ll find my honest review of the entire Bikini Bottom Bundle (which costs $15 in Philadelphia; prices and item availability may vary by location), complete with a ranking and original photos. Read on for the deets, mateys.

4. Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float

  • What It Is: frozen pineapple beverage topped with piña colada-flavored cold foam
  • Price: from $2

Because it’s called a float, I was expecting it to be topped with vanilla soft serve. But alas! The cold foam trend has made its way to the BK drive-thru. This made it a bit disappointing for me personally; I so craved sturdy, milky ice cream to pair with the bright, acidic pineapple slush. (It was sweeter than it was sour, like a pineapple lollipop.) I also wish it wasn’t tropical-flavored, since the base already was. I would’ve appreciated more of a contrast. That said, it was still tasty and refreshing—although I wouldn’t call it a float.

3. Mr. Krabs’s Cheesy Bacon Tots

  • What It Is: tater tots filled with cheese and bacon bits
  • Price: from $2

These coin-shaped poppables came in a treasure chest-shaped carton. Needless to say, they charmed their way into my mouth one by one. The smoky bacon flavor was a bit strong, but the interior was melty, cheesy and very fluffy, sort of like fried mashed potato bites more than proper tots of shredded potato.

2. SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper

  • What It Is: quarter-pound beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo and ketchup on a yellow square sesame seed bun
  • Price: $7

The bun was hefty and soft, but most importantly, a sunny SpongeBob yellow—and square! I loved the creativity here, and aesthetically, it was certainly fitting. But looks aside, this was just a regular Whopper with cheese. Personally, I love that Whoppers get ketchup and mayo, since I’m a sucker for tang. And that flame-broiled flavor, which I know is divisive for folks, is super nostalgic for me.

1. Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie

  • What It Is: strawberry and vanilla cream layers on a crunchy cookie crumb crust, topped with shortcake cookie crumbles and pink star-shaped sprinkles
  • Price: $3

Not gonna lie: As a fruit dessert lover with long-standing ambivalence for BK’s iconic Hershey’s Sundae Pie, I was superexcited to dig into this jammy treat. It’s indeed Patrick pink, and the star sprinkles made me say “aww” when I opened the box. I loved the diverse textures here, between the fluffy whipped topping, the sticky fruit spread, the slightly gritty crust and the crunchy sprinkles. There was also a great balance between sweet and tart, and the strawberry flavor was similar to that of the BK Strawberry Sundae Shake (which I had dozens of in my adolescence). From the flavor to the price to the appearance, this is easily my top pick of the Burger King SpongeBob Movie menu. Oh, and pro tip: Eat it cold, instead of letting it warm up next to your hot Whopper.
