1. Quirky And Creative Chocolate Bars At Exquisito Chocolates

Wait, Miami has its own chocolate factory? Indeed it does, thanks to local chocolatier Carolina Quijano. Exquisito Chocolates specializes in bean-to-bar chocolate made with ethically sourced beans. Visitors of Quijano’s factory in Little Havana can get a behind-the-scenes peek at the chocolate-making process through interactive tours and cooking demos. While you’re there, pick up a few of her best-selling bars, including the Cerealously Amazing, a white chocolate and cookie crisp creation; the Café con Leche, a milk chocolate and Per’La coffee mix; and the Don’t Be Salty, an Ecuadorian dark chocolate and sea salt bar.

2. Fancy Pants Bonbons At Garcia Nevett

Run by Venezuelan sister duo Susana and Isabel Garcia Nevett, this South Miami chocolate store is a dreamy paradise for all types of sweets lovers. Though the shop custom-makes everything from cookies and cakes to s’mores and fudge jars, the sisters specialize in top-notch bonbons. In fact, they’ve even won a few awards for their creations, including nods from the International Chocolate Awards, which recognizes excellence in fine chocolate products from producers around the world. Keep an eye out for the orange honey caramel bonbon and the Patanemo ganache, a bonbon made with single-origin cacao from a small town in Venezuela.

3. The Ultimate Chocolate Platter At Le Chocolatier

Consider Le Chocolatier the OG of Miami chocolate shops. Based in North Miami Beach, this spot has served up confections since 1980 (!). From chocolate roses to covered strawberries and beyond, there’s not much Le Chocolatier doesn’t offer. Even better, it has kosher and lactose-free items. (Psst: Go all out and order a chocolate platter, complete with assorted truffles, chocolates, cookies, pretzels and other treats—all magnificently arranged on a single plate. Yeah, you’re sure to impress your friends next time you host a Bachelor viewing party.)

4. Handmade Truffles At Cao Chocolates

Forget what you’ve been told: Chocolate does in fact grow on trees in Miami. Husband and wife-owned Cao Chocolates grows its own cacao and then transforms it into drool-worthy creations. Everything they offer is made with only two ingredients, cacao and sugar, and beyond bonbons and chocolate bars, Cao is known for its handmade truffles. Many of them look more like small pieces of art than edible pieces of chocolate. Get your phone ready before you dive into these bad boys.

5. Chocolate Sushi Box At Romanicos Chocolates

Since 2001, Romanicos Chocolates has been heralded as one of Miami’s best chocolate shops—and it’s no surprise why. The boutique shop located near Coconut Grove is known for small-batch chocolates, all of which are produced in-house daily. Among its most notable offerings, the chocolate sushi box reigns supreme. Basically, it’s a sushi-style platter made entirely of chocolate, marzipan and crisped rice. We know what we’re having for dinner tonight.
