Odds are you’re already familiar with Drew Barrymore’s lifestyle brand, Beautiful, which offers everything from kitchenware to appliances to home décor. (PureWow editors are particularly fond of the Insta-worthy air fryer, FWIW.) But did you know the actress/entrepreneur added frozen dinners to the roster in late 2024?

Available exclusively at Walmart, the four meals are portioned for a single person and ready to heat and serve at a moment’s notice. As a food editor and lover of lazy dinners, I was skeptical of celebrity-backed microwave meals, but—in the name of research—I had to give them a try. Read on for my honest reviews and overall ranking of all four meals.

40 Chicken Meal Prep Recipes That Never Get Boring

4. Creamy Parmesan & Basil Chicken Pasta

  • What It Is: tender chicken breast pieces over fettuccine, tossed in creamy herb sauce

The sauce was super watery, although I liked its cheesy, basil-y profile. The pasta was mostly al dente, but a bit hard in some spots. My least favorite part was the chicken; it was rather bland (aside from a few pieces that were very salty) and had a somewhat unpleasant texture. It reminded me of these precooked grilled chicken strips that my mom used to buy when I was a kid that were kind of Styrofoam-y. I’d skip this one.

3. Citrus Chicken with Broccoli & Carrots

  • What It Is: breaded chicken breast dressed in creamy lemon sauce, served with broccoli and carrots

I much preferred this chicken to that in the pasta. While the microwaving zapped all the crispness out of its breading, the poultry’s texture at least felt like real chicken. The acidic, rich lemon sauce was definitely the saving grace here for both the chicken and the veggies. (The vegetables were very plain without it but not mushy.)

2. Meatloaf with Vegetables

  • What It Is: savory beef meatloaf in homestyle sauce with zucchini and bell peppers

This one is giving more spaghetti and meatballs than meatloaf, IMO. I was hoping for a ketchup-y glaze but it’s basically pasta sauce. That said, the meatloaf is well seasoned, mildly garlicky and very tender (almost too soft at the ends). The zucchini still had some texture and crunch to it while the bell peppers were a bit soft for my liking.

1. Taco Bowl

  • What It Is: seasoned taco beef with Spanish rice, beans, bell peppers and cheese, topped with tortilla strips and creamy chipotle sauce

This one made me think of elevated Taco Bell—and I say that as someone who lowkey loves Taco Bell. Super cheesy, savory, just-salty-enough and flavorful, I mostly enjoyed this microwave masterpiece. However, the rice was a touch overcooked, and I wished the tortilla strips came on the side with an instruction to remove them from the packaging or something, so they could’ve had a chance to retain their crunch.
