The North Face Moutain Jacket 2025 UNI
The North Face/Design for PureWow

You may not have intended to buy a winter jacket this late in the game, but it's not every day—or heck, even every year—that you can get your hands on a new iteration of The North Face's most iconic style, which has been around since 1985! Yup, you read that right. The brand's Mountain jacket ($250) is *40* years old, and the brand is celebrating this milestone by giving it an upgraded design that will keep you looking cool and feeling warm. But that's not all. The North Face also dropped an all-new 2025 collection that "builds on its storied legacy with advancements in protection, sustainability and performance, offering unparalleled versatility for both mountain and city adventures." So, I think it goes without saying, folks: Get your card ready because The North Face's new take on the design demands your *full* attention (and wallet).

Before I get into details about the new jacket, though, let's take a trip down memory lane to where it all began 40 years ago. The first Mountain jacket was designed in an effort to protect climbers and skiers from the harshest conditions, and it quickly earned "must-have" status for alpine explorations. Unsurprisingly, through the decades, it's gotten even better with some of the *best* technology and utilitarian crafting.

Now, in 2025, it's giving wearers even more warmth and protection (literally) with a DryVent™ Mono membrane that supposedly delivers seam-sealed, waterproof protection with 100 percent recycled materials. It also has zip-in-compatible integration with the brand's Retro Denali jacket if you want/need to layer up. But TBH, that might not even be necessary based on all of its other features, which include a Stormflap with snap closure that covers the two-way center front zip. And don't even get me started on the adjustable three-piece hood with a bonded brim and drawcord locks, which will come in handy when it's really windy (or when you're skiing down a mountain at full speed).

As always, the Mountain jacket also has cozy hand pockets, a center front placket and an internal drawcord with cord locks at the hem for optimal adjustability, so you can get a super cinched-in fit if you so please. Plus, the brand's logo is embroidered on the left chest and back-right shoulder, so no one can mistake it for another.

In addition to this gorgeous (and very trendy) sky blue hue, it comes in a white-and-black colorway, as well as an all-black one. (And ladies, if you prefer red and black, you can totally opt for a smaller size in the men's version.)

The North Face

In any case, you need this jacket if you plan on getting a few more ski runs or hiking treks in before spring, and so do your husband and kids. Thankfully, it comes in their sizes, too. Let's just say The North Face didn't come to play when it comes to celebrating this legendary layer.
