Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has been on a sartorial roll as of late. (Did you see her stunning look at AmFAR’s gala in Cannes?) Still, a recent outfit caught our eye for a familial reason: It felt like a near-exact replica of a style beloved by Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. What did Fergie wear? This stunning polka dot tea dress—called the ‘Mathilde’— from L.K. Bennett ($595). But hear us out: It’s eerily reminiscent of Kate’s Alessandra Rich style, circa 2018.

Flash back six years to the now-King Charles’s 70th birthday. To honor the occasion, Clarence House released a couple of brand-new family portraits with the whole fam—William, Kate, Harry and Meghan all included. (Ahem, it was a different time.)
Kate’s choice of attire? A polka dot number—that, quite honestly, reads very similar to this 2024 style, currently available—complete with a bold white collar. The now-Princess of Wales even repeated the look for a D-Day event in Bletchley, England in 2019.

Back to Fergie: This week, she attended the Royal Windsor Flower Show in Windsor Great Park wearing what felt like a tea-length version of Kate’s beloved dress. Of course, different year, different designer, but we immediately saw the sartorial similarities. And if you want to go even more granular, this particular look feels like a style Princess Diana would have chosen, too. (See above from 1985.)
