These Ann Taylor pants are so fun and festive. I went to another event before the party and got a few compliments on them (including from a woman who used to work at Alexander Wang...) so that was fun! They’re perfect for a party but I can also see myself wearing these again for a date night or dinner out.
My coordinating AT sweater is also supremely comfortable and easy enough to dress up (like with the sequin pants) or dress down (like with a pair of jeans or slacks). It's basically the ultimate versatile top that can be worn on a night out, to the office or even just lounging around at home.
As for my party-ready handbag, I was recently introduced to this family-owned business and fell in love immediately. They have the cutest stuff. This lightweight purse comfortably fits my iPhone, lipstick and house keys, plus there are leather card slots for my Metro and credit cards. Most of my other purses are more casual (#momlife) so I like this as an elevated option that I can reach for when I want to look more polished.

This was my first big night out since having a baby, so I wanted to feel stylish and sophisticated but still comfortable. I started with an old favorite slinky, bias-cut satin skirt in a festive silver hue from Topshop, then layered on a timeless (and ultra-soft) cashmere and wool sweater for a little warmth and ease. For the heel-averse, these Margaux slingbacks strike the perfect balance between cocktail and casual, and were incredibly comfortable right out of the box—14 NYC blocks later, my blister-free feet are living proof!
Sculptural silver hoops were a fun substitute for my usual studs, but the star of the show was this sequin mini handbag from MZ Wallace. A compliment magnet from friends, colleagues and strangers on the street, this tiny top handle makes a bold statement on a small silhouette, and it was just what I needed to take my look from happy hour to full-on holiday!

I don’t think red is ever out of season, but it feels especially festive during the holidays. I bought this Sézane suit last year and it never fails to reel in the compliments. Plus, it’s in a very trendy burgundy. To amp up the festive feel, I paired my suit with a LilySilk blouse. I love this outré take on the button up with the sheer sleeves—it made something usually boring feel fun and daring. I also love the way silk shines and provides a soft texture against the hardier look of the suit.

I have long wanted to add a sequin number to my closet and ordered Sézane’s Fiorella dress as soon as it became available just to see how it fit. I’m obsessed! It is sparkly and festive, but most importantly, super comfy. It’s barely December and I’ve already reached for it twice. I especially love the fact the powder pink hue is not the most obvious of holiday colors so I can reach for it for any number of sparkly occasions.
One tip: You’ll want to size down since, minus the belt, it’s designed with plenty of room to spare. (On site, Sézane recommends doing the same.) It comes with a slip, too, so you don't have to worry about any surprise transparency in pics. I got so many compliments, including from a random guy on the NYC subway who exited the train and told me: “you look like a movie star!” lol. I just love how festive it made me feel.

I needed a versatile black dress that I could dress up or down all year round, and this is it. It fits like a glove, and I’ll probably buy duplicates because when I truly love something, I can never fight the urge to get it another color. I paired it with sparkly earrings and gold platform mules I already had in my closet for a festive holiday vibe, but I love that I also have the option to dress it down with everyday accessories and a sweater layered on top. The v-neckline and subtle ruching in the bust are so flattering, and the length couldn't be more perfect—hitting right at my ankle. (I'm 5’3” for reference). Made from 100-percent washable Mulberry silk, this dress feels weightless and smooth against the skin, laying beautifully without feeling constricting.

For me, the holiday fashion season is defined by two things: velvet and lace. So I donned ‘em both to kick off the festivities. No one could believe that my dress was from Amazon, and honestly, neither can I. The quality is so impressive considering the price; the velvet is soft and luxe, just how it ought to be, and the ribbed detailing creates a vertical stripe effect that’s especially flattering for a short gal like moi (hello, elongation!). Plus, the neckline and stretch waist fit like a glove (with the latter allowing for plenty of wining and dining). My lace accent came courtesy of these Steve Madden slingbacks, which are surprisingly comfortable despite the higher heel and pointed toe—I could mingle in them for hours before needing to look for a seat.

The first time I slipped into this sequin blazer-and-pants set, I felt like I’d stepped into my own spotlight. I love how the sequins catch every movement while the clean lines and tailored shape keep it refined. I can wear the blazer with denim for a more casual look, or add the matching pants and instantly stand out from the sea of cocktail dresses. It’s the rare statement outfit that doesn’t wear me, yet I can still take up space.

I chose this Vineyard Vines tartan dress because it had everything I wanted for a holiday outfit. The colors are festive without being over the top, and the subtle hints of gold sparkles add just the right touch of shine. I immediately fell in love with the fact it had a matching bow, which made the dress feel both playful and elegant. On top of that, it was incredibly comfortable and clearly well made, so I knew I’d feel great wearing it all night.
