Katie Holmes Shares Her No. 1 Fashion Tip for Nailing the Cozy Chic Look This Winter

Katie Holmes is sharing tips on how to nail the “cozy chic” trend without looking like you just rolled out of bed.

The Dawson’s Creek alum, 41, recently sat down for an interview with PureWow, where she discussed how her fashion has evolved in 2020.

“With everyone spending so much more time at home, I would definitely describe 2020 fashion as cozy chic,” she told PureWow. “It’s all about finding new ways to dress up casual clothes and leaning into the effortless approach.” 

So, what’s the number one way to nail that “cozy chic” aesthetic, especially during New York’s brutal winters? “Living where there are seasons, it’s about layering,” she explained. Holmes has used this trick on multiple occasions—like when she dressed up sweatpants with a chic blazer by Frame Denim ($628), white sneakers by Common Projects ($425) and a Medium Bubble Notte bag by SHARKCHASER ($840).

Although 2020 didn’t go as planned, Holmes admitted that she’s never been closer to her daughter, Suri (14), and family. “It’s been a year like no other, but my family and I have found new ways to stay connected in these times,” she said. “Whether it’s FaceTiming more often, or something simple but fun like a shared holiday playlist, we’re making the most of the situation and showing gratitude for the little things.”

Holmes also spoke about her partnership with Meiomi Wines, which is geared toward giving back this holiday season. “I’m already a fan of Meiomi and then I learned that this season they are making a large donation to organizations supporting wildfire relief in Napa and Sonoma counties as they are sourced in California,” she explained. “In a year unlike any other, I’m looking to gift brands and items that are giving back so it was a perfect fit for the holidays!”
