The rich and head-turning hue was already on our mood board for fall, given the fact that it continues to linger after making waves as a major color trend this past spring and summer, too. It’s set to stay in the mix for fall, too, supplying an unexpected twist on navy that also helps combat the “quiet luxury” vibes that are more typical of the season, according to Australian Harper’s Bazaar.
Kate’s choice to wear a custom Roksanda dress in this colorway to watch the Men’s Final on Sunday only served to cement its status and keep us on the lookout for pieces we can easily mix into our own closets as autumn approaches.

Of course, blue—and its many variations—have long been a signature color for the Princess of Wales (cobalt blue is just a fraction away from royal blue, which is long beloved by Kate, in addition to several other members of the royal clan). She’s donned the shade on occasions ranging from the Christmas walk-about in 2023 to an official visit to the V&A East Storehouse earlier this year. But her look this weekend, especially in regard to the colorway, felt fresh and modern—more joyful even.
