I have, of course, heard all the good things about Crocs. And while I knew that everyone from chefs to nurses famously swear by them, I'll admit, I never really found myself drawn to the traditional version of the clogs (even though I do find those Jibbitz charms adorable). But the Dylan platforms, in all their '90s-throwback glory, spoke to me. And once they arrived at my doorstep and I stepped into them, I knew I had found my new go-tos for the spring and summer.
Due to their roomy footbed and that distinctive 2.2-inch platform sole, these babies are pretty chunky. (Not that I was expecting anything less; after all, I did say that my love of the Spice Girls influenced my choice.) But they're also not heavy in the slightest. Although they differ in design from standard Crocs with their textured, closed upper that resembles more of a leather mule, the Dylan clogs are made from the same signature Croslite foam material, which makes them lightweight, durable and water-friendly—the latter of which is sure to come in handy when I hit the pool and beach this summer. (Psst: They're also equipped with grippy detailing on the footbed to prevent feet from slipping, even when they're wet.)
They look cute, they give me more than 2 inches of extra height and they make me want to break out into a rendition of "Wannabe." But the most important thing about these funky platforms is the fact that they're comfortable and easy to walk in. In addition to being a child of the '90s, I am a born and raised New Yorker—ergo, I don't drive (I don't even have a license), so I walk a lot. From grocery runs to nail salon visits and even a trip to the optometrist, I've taken thousands of steps in these clogs—both barefoot and in socks—and haven't gotten a single blister, ache or pain. I imagine that the firm, supportive footbed has something to do with that.
Lastly, they're super easy to clean. I have worn them in a grassy park, and the minimal amount of dirt and scuffing they acquired was easily wiped away with a damp paper towel.
I only have a couple of qualms with these shoes. The first is that I find them to run a bit large in my usual size. However, the extra room at the back, and between my foot and the upper, does give me some wiggle room (literally) for donning with socks—and those inevitable days when my feet expand in the summer heat. The second is that they don't have a lot of support for my high arches, though it's not enough of an issue to make me stop wearing them.
