You guys. When I was studying English literature in college, never did I, in my wildest dreams, think I’d find myself posting swimsuit selfies on the internet. But several decades and a lot of unflattering bikinis later, I feel compelled to share when I find something good. And this Boden bathing suit is good. Really, really good.

New to the Boden collection this year, the Mykonos Deep V features everything the brand is known for: thick quality material, poppy colorways and a grownup sensibility that’s still plenty playful.

Most importantly, it looks incredible on, thanks to the aforementioned V, ruche-like banding at the belly and a full tush that keeps everything in place. As a 5’1” short-waisted person, I generally assume I can only wear bathing suits with adjustable straps (lest I leave nothing to the imagination), but not so with the Mykonos, which comes in both regular and long torso sizing and has molded cups for a little extra structure. I found it ran true to size, and was happy I erred on the smaller side. (I’m wearing a size 2, after debating the 4).

Boden

I recently broke mine out for a trip to Mexico and am pleased to report that a) it got me all the compliments and b) I found it supportive enough to wear to midday water aerobics. And while I loved the bright rainbow stripe colorway for my vacation, as it’s nearly sold out online, I could also see myself rocking the dreamy cerulean blue or even the simple black.

My only quibble (if you’re going to force me to have one) is that the straps in the back sometimes get twisted, requiring the help of a patient spouse, who might as well apply more sunscreen while he’s back there. But again, this is small compared to how comfortable it is and how good I feel about myself in it.

A suit that allows me to nosh French fries poolside with confidence? That alone is worthy of vaguely mortifying internet selfies.
