The ever-whirring time machine of fashion has lately taken us back through the decades of ‘90s minimalism, ‘70s bohemianism and even the dark romance of the Victorian age. For fall and winter 2026, it’s landed us in yet another bygone era with a signature aesthetic: the 1920s.
Defined by its embrace of free-spiritedness and fringes, opulence and decadence, the Jazz Age certainly isn’t the worst moment to revisit—especially in the midst of this century’s own version of the ‘20s. Though the jury is still out on whether we’d consider these days to be quite as “roaring,” there’s no question that we want to be dressing like they are.
Flapper favorites from T-strap shoes to tassel accents and sash belts have already emerged as major trends, while drop waists and drapey details are on the rise. Not to mention the fact that everywhere we turn, from the latest designer runways (see: Ralph Lauren and Conner Ives spring/summer 2027, and Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda 2026) to the streets surrounding them, long and luxurious kimono-style coats have seemingly taken over as the outerwear of choice. Embellished, embroidered, trimmed with fur, they’re statement-makers that feel straight out of the pages of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
