The #7 Movie on Netflix Has an Abysmal 20% Rating on Rotten Tomatoes (So Naturally I'm Curious)

This film has quite the cast...

They can't all be winners...and that's certainly the case when it comes to Netflix's top ten movies list. Currently, the streamer features an incredible (and bizarre) thriller sitting at the number one spot. But a little bit further down at number seven? Allow me to introduce you to (or remind you about) You, Me and Dupree.

Did I watch the Kate Hudson/Matt Dillon/Owen Wilson comedy when it first aired back in 2006? Hard to say. If I did, I immediately forgot about it. But it's now back and somehow sitting on Netflix's most-popular movies roundup...which has naturally piqued my curiosity.

The Netflix synopsis of the movie reads, "When he loses his apartment just after his friends' wedding, quirky best man Dupree crashes with the newlyweds and quickly overstays his welcome." The cast is top notch, with Hudson and Dillon as the newlyweds, Wilson as the wacky Dupree and Michael Douglas rounding out the ensemble. It certainly all sounds promising.

However, the film has a terrible rating on Rotten Tomatoes—20 percent to be exact. The reviews from critics and viewers alike are not great. Over on IMDB, the scores are slightly higher, with 5.6 out of 10 stars.

But here's the great thing about Netflix...this is a low stakes investment. If the film is as bad as they say, I can quickly switch to one of my favorite new shows (but I'll be skipping the #1 show RN, thank you very much). And maybe, just maybe I'll be one of the 20 percent who thinks the film is worth the watch.
