Virgin River fans have more rom-com drama to look forward to, because When Hope Calls is returning for season two.
This week, Great American Family announced that the When Calls the Heart spin-off series has been renewed for another season. It is set to begin filming this month, with an expected premiere date of January 2025.
Several season one cast members are reprising their roles in When Hope Calls season two, including Cindy Busby (Nora), Christopher Russell (Mountie Michael), Nick Bateman (Wyatt), Morgan Kohan (Lillian Walsh), RJ Hatanaka (Mountie Gabriel), Wendy Crewson (Tess Steward) and Henneke Talbot (Maggie Parsons).
When Hope Calls takes place in the town of Brookfield in 1916 and follows sisters Lillian Walsh (Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) as they open an orphanage. The story line is reminiscent of Virgin River, focusing on the interpersonal relationships between the town’s residents.
According to Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, renewing When Hope Calls for season two was a no-brainer. “We were fortunate early on to understand that Janette Oke’s faith-filled characters had such rich origins that building entertainment universes from this world would present themselves over and over,” he said in a press release.
