It's been four years since fans bid farewell to Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his colleagues in the final season of Suits, but viewers can relive all nine seasons of the drama now that the last iteration has arrived on Netflix.

Throughout its nine-season run, the series revolved around a law firm that survived a number of curve balls and scandals, resulting in more plot twists and name changes that I could keep track of. Although the first eight seasons were previously available for streaming on Netflix, the ninth had been harder to track down. Fortunately for us, the last installment has finally made its way to the streamer.

1. When Was Suits Season 9 Confirmed?

In January 2019, USA Network announced that Suits was renewed for a ninth and final season. It consisted of just ten episodes and aired in July 2019.

As for why the series ended after nine seasons, show creator Aaron Korsh told Deadline that Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams's departure played a role. He said, "During the course of season seven, as they were negotiating the cast’s contracts for two years, an unforeseen thing happened. You can never know that one of your stars is going to marry the Prince of England, and Patrick decided not to return, so we had a choice whether to keep going after season seven."

"We decided that the original plan was a 16-episode season 8 and a 10-episode season 9, let’s see if we can do that. And dovetailing with that, Katherine Heigl called and she wanted to be involved in the show, and we thought it was a perfect way to help extend the franchise and make it to that end of season 9."

2. What Is Suits Season 9 About?

The final season focuses on the ever-evolving firm—now called Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams—as it faces a new set of challenges, following Robert Zane's (Wendell Pierce) decision to take the fall for Harvey. In addition, the season further explores Donna and Harvey's new romantic relationship and includes a surprise reappearance from Adams.

On Instagram, the actor wrote, “Go time. Very excited to head back into the fray one last time. Thanks to the fans for keeping the flame alive and to Mr. Aaron Korsh for welcoming me back.”

3. Who Is in the Cast of Suits Season 9?

Several familiar faces returned for the show's final season, including Macht and Adams.

Season nine's main cast includes:

  • Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter
  • Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt
  • Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen
  • Amanda Schull as Katrina Bennett
  • Dulé Hill as Alex Williams
  • Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler
  • Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross

Season nine's recurring cast includes:

  • Aloma Wright as Gretchen Bodinski
  • Denise Crosby as Faye Richardson
  • Rachael Harris as Sheila Sazs
  • Alison Louder as Susan
  • Brynn Thayer as Lily Specter

As it turns out, Markle, who played paralegal Rachel Zane, didn't make an appearance because Korsh never asked her to.

He told Deadline in 2019, "In the end I didn’t ask, and I just thought, I’m going to respect her new life and not put her in the position of having to ask. We decided not to put her in that position."

4. Where to Stream Suits Season 9

Suits seasons one though nine are currently available to stream on Netflix for members. Peacock also offers all nine seasons of Suits. And since plans start at just $6 per month, it falls within budget.

On Twitter, the streaming service shared The Hollywood Reporter's announcement regarding the show's record-breaking viewership and wrote, “But I'm the only one exclusively streaming ALL NINE SEASONS of Suits. This tweet was approved by Legal.”

5. Why Was Suits Season 9 Missing From Netflix?

The streaming service hasn't publicly addressed why the final season was missing for so long, but I'd assume that they hadn’t obtained the rights until now, since those episodes only aired in 2019.

Netflix users can see a longer version of the show's pilot. While speaking with TVLine, executive producer Gene Klein said, “The slightly longer version has been on Netflix, internationally, and we’ve known that it’s out there.”

He added, “USA, at the time, was willing to let us have a long pilot, but they weren’t willing to let us go that long. But they told us at the time that that one was fine for selling internationally.”

Well, I know what I'm binge-watching tonight.
