Netflix's New #1 Show Absolutely Lives Up to the Hype—and I'm Not the Only One Who's Obsessed

There are already four seasons

It’s not often that a new series or movie genuinely excites me the second it pops up on my Netflix homepage. Sure, there are plenty of shows I look forward to, but that immediate, full-smile, press-play-without-thinking reaction? Rare. And yet, one show manages to do exactly that every time, and clearly I’m not alone, because it is currently sitting at the number one spot on Netflix’s Top 10. The show? Love on the Spectrum.

If you’re new to it, here’s the quick rundown: Love on the Spectrum is an American reality series inspired by the original Australian version, following individuals on the autism spectrum as they navigate dating and relationships. It’s equal parts heartfelt, insightful and genuinely refreshing in a reality TV landscape that can sometimes feel a little overproduced.

Critics have been all in from the start. Season one earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, while seasons two and three landed comfortably in the mid-90s. And season four, which dropped on April 1, is keeping that momentum going, with viewers just as invested as ever.

"Season 4 of Love on the Spectrum hits even harder emotionally than the previous seasons. It brings back familiar faces while introducing new people, and you really get to see how everyone has grown—not just in dating, but as people," one reviewer wrote.

Personally, the thing I see people bring up the most about the show (and something I completely agree with) is just how real it feels. You get everything: the nerves before a date, the awkward moments, the joy, and even the heartbreak. It captures the full dating experience in a way that feels honest and a little raw, just through a different lens. And honestly, it’s hard not to end up rooting for the cast and genuinely hoping their love stories work out.

PureWow's VP of News and Entertainment, Philip Mutz, agrees saying, "This season may just be my favorite one yet. I love having Connor, Madison and James back—along with their incredibly supportive families. Connor is a star to be sure, but his mom? Just the best! Love on the Spectrum continues to be really, really great TV."

And if you needed one more reason to start watching: just two days after season four premiered, Netflix confirmed the show has been renewed for a fifth season. Translation: it’s the kind of feel-good binge you can get invested in now, knowing there’s more on the way.

Love on the Spectrum is streaming now on Netflix.
