Our Favorite Reese Witherspoon Flick Is the #6 Movie on Netflix

It’s been over six months since MGM finally announced a release date for Legally Blonde 3. And it seems we’re clearly not the only ones trying to pass the time by bingeing the first two installments, because the original, Legally Blonde, is officially ranking in Netflix’s most popular movies list.

The 2001 flick, which stars Reese Witherspoon, centers on popular “it” girl, Elle Woods, who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School to prove she’s not as “blonde” as she looks. And after just one week on the streaming platform, the romantic comedy has officially landed the number six spot on Netflix’s top ten.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “Elle Woods (Witherspoon) has it all. She wants nothing more than to be Mrs. Warner Huntington III. But there is one thing stopping him from proposing: She is too blond. Elle rallies all of her resources and gets into Harvard, determined to win him back.” In addition to Witherspoon, LB also stars Luke Wilson (Stargirl), Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions), Jennifer Coolidge (A Cinderella Story), Ali Larter (Obsessed) and Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me).

As we mentioned above, a third installment is currently in the works. Witherspoon officially confirmed the news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight last August. At the time, she told the publication, “Oh, it’s gonna be so fun! I got to go to a meeting the other day where we talked about all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters.”

We’re crossing our fingers the original stays on the platform until Legally Blonde 3 is officially released.
