Upon winning Best Supporting Actor at the 95th Academy Awards for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, Ke Huy Quan both made us tear up and run to Google. You see, we had to know who exactly he was shouting out when he mentioned Jeff Cohen at the end of his speech.

As it turns out, Jeff Cohen is none other than the actor who played the iconic character Chunk in the 1985 Spielberg classic, The Goonies.

Of course, Quan is well known for starring in the same film as Richard “Data” Wang. In his speech, he referred to Cohen as “my Goonies brother for life.” The emotional event marked Quan’s first ever Academy Award. He’s also the second Asian actor to win the category (after Haing S. Ngor in 1984) and the first Vietnam-born actor to be nominated for an Oscar.

Like Quan, Cohen left acting after The Goonies, eventually pursuing a law degree and becoming an entertainment lawyer. What’s more, Cohen actually negotiated Quan’s contract for Everything Everywhere All at Once, per People.

Goonies never say die…and Goonies never let you sign a contract without reading the fine print.
