The series finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty finally aired on Wednesday, September 17. It marked the end of an era. A show that had fully consumed me—and millions of others—over the past three years wrapped its 11-episode third season.
In case you missed it: The series centers on Belly Conklin (Lola Tung), a teen who’s spent pretty much her entire life crushing hard on Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), her longtime family friend. But when Conrad doesn’t exactly return the feelings, Belly starts noticing someone else—his younger brother, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). What follows is a three-season rollercoaster of feelings, friendship and one seriously drawn-out love triangle that spans years.
Now let me be very clear here: I thoroughly enjoyed this coming-of-age romantic drama. It was the kind of show I genuinely looked forward to every week, popcorn and drink in hand. But when the credits rolled on that last episode, I felt a wave of relief. Not just because the show gave fans the ending we wanted (and did it well) but because I could finally put this particular moment in time behind me.
