I Just Realized Why 'Sirens' Star Glenn Howerton Looks So Familiar—and I Can't Believe I Didn't See it Sooner

His resume is stacked

Every once in a while—okay, more often than I’d like to admit—I’ll be watching something and spot a familiar face that I just can’t place. You know the feeling: it’s right there, on the tip of your tongue, but your brain just won’t connect the dots. That exact thing happened while I was watching Netflix’s dark comedy Sirens.

The limited series, starring Milly Alcock, Meghann Fahy, Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon, was created by Molly Smith Metzler and based on her 2011 play Elemeno Pea. The story follows the DeWitt sisters—Devon (Fahy) who gets concerned about her sister Simone’s (Alcock) weirdly intense relationship with her ultra-rich boss, Michaela (Moore). Cue an awkward and dramatic intervention.

Now, while watching, I kept getting distracted by one of the characters: Ethan Corbin III, the eccentric neighbor to Michaela. Played by Glenn Howerton, he had that face—you know, that face where you know you've seen him somewhere, but where?

A quick IMDb search sent me on a mini “ohhh, right!” spiral.

First off, Howerton is probably best known for playing Dennis Reynolds on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, co-owner of Paddy’s Pub and all-around chaos agent. That’s likely where most people recognize him—especially since the show has been running for nearly 20 years (with season 17 dropping on July 9).

But wait, there’s more. He also starred in A.P. Bio for four seasons, appeared on the hit medical drama ER, was in the 2008 horror hit The Strangers and popped up in The Hunt. He even made a guest appearance on Abbott Elementary and had a solid run on The Mindy Project. Voice-wise, you may have heard him in Velma, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.

If you need more Glenn Howerton in your life, catch him when It’s Always Sunny returns or go ahead and rewatch Sirens for round two.
