When I created my list of the best shows of July 2026, I included must-watch options like The Five Star Weekend and the Legally Blonde prequel, Elle. But one incredible new show dropped in the final days of the month, and I'm sad to say I missed it—until now.
Furious, starring Shameless actress Emmy Rossum, is a new, under-the-radar show on Hulu, and I highly recommend a watch. In fact, it's my favorite series on streaming at the moment.
Furious follows an NYPD-officer-turned-FBI-agent (Rossum) who makes the career switch after experiencing some horrific personal trauma. In a pencil-pushing position at the FBI, she's drawn into a case involving a female serial killer (Lola Petticrew) who seems to be targeting men connected to sex crimes and sex trafficking.
Rossum is phenomenal as our flawed heroine, and Petticrew is truly terrifying as our wig-donning murderess. It's clear that each of these characters has a chaotic and complicated past, making them intensely interesting in this cat-and-mouse story. The show feels like Killing Eve (minus the romantic relationship between detective and killer). And with plenty of dark twists, I'm fully invested in the season.
I'm not alone in my love of the series. Furious is currently the number one show on Hulu (far ahead of Ryan Murphy's The Shards, which was a giant miss for me). It also has a whopping 98 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, and a nearly-as-impressive 87 percent rating from viewers. Let's just hope Hulu realizes the hit it has on its hands and gives it a season two renewal.
The first five episodes of Furious are out now, with new episodes dropping each Monday until the August 31 finale.
