Michael C. Hall Assumes New Identity in First ‘Dexter: New Blood’ Trailer

It’s official: Dexter and his dark passenger are returning to the small screen.

Showtime just released a first glimpse of the upcoming season, titled Dexter: New Blood. Although everything has changed for the titular character (played by Michael C. Hall), the trailer proves that he can only run from his past for so long.

The trailer re-introduces viewers to the story line, which follows Dexter as he starts fresh in Oregon. To do so, he assumes a new identity, Jim Lindsay. “It’s been a whirlwind,” Dexter says in the clip. “I’ve always had my demons, so I went away.”

However, that doesn’t mean Dexter has completely forgotten about his dark passenger. Not only does he land a fitting job that deals with weapons, but he also resumes his nighttime extracurricular activities of hunting down serial killers.

The clip doesn’t give too much else away, but it’s only a matter of time before someone discovers Dexter’s secret. “Every day, I walk through this world faking it, knowing if someone knows who I am—that’s it,” he says before adding, “This is all about blending in.”

We first learned about the Dexter revival back in October 2020 when Showtime confirmed that the popular series is returning for season nine. Oh, and did we mention the new episodes will be helmed by the original showrunner, Clyde Phillips (Nurse Jackie)?

Dexter: New Blood will premiere on Sunday, November 7, complete with coveralls, rubber gloves and plastic tarps.
