News broke today that Cameron Diaz and husband Benji Madden recently welcomed their first child! But the big announcement left us wondering about the 47-year-old actress's relationship with Madden.
Following high-profile romances with Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto and Alex Rodriguez, Diaz's relationship with the musician has been surprisingly low-key, at least publicly.

Benjamin Levi Madden is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and producer.
He is the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for the band Good Charlotte, as well as pop rock duo The Madden Brothers.
Although she knew Madden’s sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, and his brother, Joel Madden, for a couple of years, Cameron and Madden didn't really cross paths for quite some time.. “The first thing I said when I first met my [would be] husband was, ‘He's hot,’” she told Andy Cohen on his show Radio Andy. “How come I didn't know this before? We had never been in the same circle.”
It wasn’t until a dinner party at her house that the duo was formally introduced. “Then I saw him again,” she continued. “Wait a second, still hot!”
The couple was first linked in May 2014 when they started spending quality time together both at her home and the gym.
A source told People, “They’ve spent a lot of time at Cameron’s house. Cameron seems very happy with Benji. He is the nicest guy and treats her like a lady.”
“They seemed very friendly and they looked like they were trying to avoid [being seen outside],” said another source. “But Cameron was super friendly with other people [at the gym]. She even taught a girl how to use one of the arm weight machines.”
The duo became man and wife in front of 100 guests at Diaz’s Beverly Hills home in 2015.
“We got married in our living room in front of our friends,” she revealed on Radio Andy. “Had a little party in our backyard on the tennis court and yeah. Otherwise it would have been something else.”
This past August, Diaz opened up to InStyle magazine about her marriage.
“My husband’s the best,” she said. “He’s the greatest human being, and he’s my great partner. Marriage is certainly hard, and it’s a lot of work. You need somebody who’s willing to do the work with you because there’s no 60-40 in marriage. It’s 50-50, period. All the time.”

On Friday, the Charlie's Angels actress shared the big news on Instagram, revealing that the couple recently welcomed a baby girl into the world.
"Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden," the post reads. "She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.” Talk about a way to start the new year.
Unfortunately for us, the couple won’t be sharing pictures of their daughter anytime soon. "While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one's privacy. So we won't be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.”
