This Kevin Costner Flick Just Hit Netflix's Top 10 List (& Drama Fans Will Love It)

We can always count on Netflix's ever-changing list of top ten movies to include a number of gripping action titles and nail-biting thrillers (we're looking at you, The Vanished). But now, it looks like there's a new drama film creeping up the list.

Allow us to introduce you to the 2014 movie, Black or White, starring Kevin Costner. The drama recently hit the tenth spot on Netflix's roundup of most popular titles. And while it was met with mixed reviews during its initial theatrical release, the thought-provoking film was actually a box office hit. From the looks of this trailer, we can definitely see why.

Black or White tells the moving story of Elliot Anderson (Costner), a widowed man who turns to drinking to cope with the loss of his wife. He still manages to care for his granddaughter, Eloise (Jillian Estell), but when her grandmother, Rowena (Octavia Spencer), insists that she be raised by her own father (Rowena's son), Elliot gets involved in a custody battle to protect his grandchild from her drug-addicted father.

The movie also stars Gillian Jacobs, Jennifer Ehle, Anthony Mackie and Bill Burr. Black or White was also written and directed by Mike Binder.

Despite its low score on Rotten Tomatoes, quite a few critics have praised the movie for its powerful message and strong performances. For instance, critic Susan Granger called it "another subtle reminder of how much racial bigotry matters." Meanwhile, Richard Crouse wrote that the movie included "several of [Kevin Costner's] best on-screen moments in years."

We know what we'll be watching tonight.
