PureWow's VP of News & Entertainment reveals his top pick for the week of September 20, 2025.

This week has been a doozy when it comes to high-quality content. Binge-worthy whodunnit The Perfect Couple continues to dominate the Netflix charts. Agatha All Along burst onto the Disney+ scene with Kathryn Hahn delivering a jaw-droppingly good performance. And the latest iteration of Ryan Murphy's Monsters anthology series arrived with a celeb-packed retelling of the Menendez Brothers murders.

And, of course, if you want a full list of the best streaming options right now, you can always check out our regularly updated list of 11 shows and movies to watch this weekend.

But when it comes to the best show of the week? I'd easily have to go with A Very Royal Scandal on Prime Video. (For the record, American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez on FX came in a close second.)

As the name implies, the show focuses on one of the worst royal scandals in modern history—and no, I'm not talking about Meghan and Harry calling it quits and moving to Cali. A Very Royal Scandal follows a much more serious topic: the accusation by Virginia Giuffre that she had sex with Prince Andrew at the age of 17, as facilitated by Jeffrey Epstein and his number two, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Why is this my pick for the week? My answer is three-fold: the performances, the pace and the real-life drama.

Ruth Wilson (who you probably recognize from Luther or The Affair) delivers an unbelievable performance as reporter Emily Maitlis, who grilled Prince Andrew in a history-making interview about the accusations. And Michael Sheen fully disappears into the role of Prince Andrew, making you hate him, pity him and hate him all over again.

The action is super fast-paced, which is really refreshing for those (like me) who thought The Crown was a little, um, slow.

And, most importantly, the three-episode miniseries is based on the real-life royal family. Whether you're a royal stan like I am or have simply heard the name Prince Andrew in passing, you'll find the drama real, thrilling and fascinating. So, if you only have limited time this week and only get the chance to watch one show, let A Very Royal Scandal be it. All three episodes are now streaming on Prime Video.
