Are you ready for some action? Well, buckle up, because Netflix is coming through with another chart-topping action thriller.
Introducing Below Zero, the 2021 Spanish action film that jumped to the number one spot on Netflix's most watched movies list in less than 24 hours. Directed by Lluís Quílez, the movie currently boasts an 80 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and ranks above popular titles like The Dig, The Vanished, and We Can Be Heroes.
The film follows Officer Martin (Javier Gutiérrez) and his partner Montesinos (Isak Férriz), who are tasked with driving a prisoner transport into a new precinct. However, things go horribly wrong after their truck is suddenly stopped by a spike strip. After Montesinos ventures out to investigate the issue and he disappears, Martin is forced to fend for himself.
In addition to Gutiérrez and Férriz, the cast includes Karra Elejalde as Miguel, Luis Callejo as Ramis, Andrés Gertrúdix as Golum, Édgar Vittorino as Rei and Miquel Gelabert as Pardo. The film's script was written by Quílez and Fernando Navarro, while it was produced by Josep Amorós Pedro Uriol.
Both critics and fans are impressed by the suspenseful film which, judging by the trailer, will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Violeta Kovacsics from Cinemanía wrote that the film is "led by a talented batch of actors," and Johnny Loftus from Decider raved that "Below Zero builds a strong sense of foreboding from the beginning."
