After a stellar evening with author Jessica Knoll discussing her novel, Helpless, at PureWow’s inaugural book club, we’re back with a November pick and a fabulous guest host. Olivia Ponton, model and podcaster behind Booked, Blonde & Busy, has chosen Lucy Foley’s The Guest List for this month's book and will be reading along with us, checking back in a few weeks to share her thoughts.

“I have to admit I’ve never read a Lucy Foley book before...I’ve had this on my shelf for years,” she told PureWow. “What immediately drew me in was the little blurb—‘an exclusive wedding on a remote Irish island.’”

The Guest List, published in 2020, is a murder mystery about a wedding gone wrong. The groom is a promising young television star, the bride an ambitious magazine publisher. Their wedding was made to be on the cover of a society magazine, with its luxe party favors, remote and beautiful location and ample offerings of boutique whiskey.

Things, however, quickly go downhill. The groomsmen have started an old drinking game and a bridesmaid has sabotaged her own dress. The bride’s best friend (a man) gives a toast that just toes the wrong side of platonic. Oh, and did anyone mention the dead body?

So gather your bookish friends, pour some Irish Whiskey (or a Guiness, if that’s more your speed) and get reading. We’ll see you at the end of November with Ponton to discuss.
