Viola Davis Shares Her Skincare Routine & Reveals How She Achieves ‘Extra Hydration’

When it comes to her beauty routine, Viola Davis doesn’t mess around. However, since the start of the current coronavirus pandemic, she’s “embracing a more natural look.” Aren’t we all.

PureWow recently spoke with the How to Get Away with Murder actress about her partnership with L’Oreal’s Women of Worth Awards—a campaign honoring women who selflessly volunteer their time to serve their communities. During the interview, Davis revealed that the changes to her daily routine have caused her to pull-back on the amount of makeup she wears. But skincare is still a major priority.

“Normally, I’m into all shades of lipstick—but obviously daily life has changed dramatically and I’m not spending as much of my time with a made-up face,” said Davis. “But steaming and prioritizing my skincare routine isn’t changing anytime soon! In general, I’m a skin-care fanatic. My favorite product from the L’Oréal Paris’ Derm Intensives skincare line is the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which I use in the morning after I cleanse. I love using a lightweight serum under a moisturizer for extra hydration. My skin feels plumped and I look well-rested. Then at night, I will steam, no matter how tired I am. I feel like if my skin is glowing, I feel my best.”

The 54-year-old actress also gave us her biggest trick for maintaining healthy skin (and it’s all about catching maximum Zzz’s).

“People always say sleep is key—and that’s absolutely true for me,” she continued. “Because I have such a busy schedule, I’ve started going to bed earlier, and even asking for more time off work, which has helped me exponentially. Beyond that, I’m always hydrating with Alkaline water. It helps my skin look plump and evens out the oil, which banishes blemishes down the road.”

Looks like we’re going to bed early tonight.
