take my money PMD silksteam pro review: a woman using a facial steamer
PureWow

Facial steamers used to be a spa-only indulgence, but that's no longer the case, thanks to all of the home devices that have cropped up over the last few years. Fans of facial steamers claim they help soften your skin and "open up" your pores to loosen up any gunk or oil that might be trapped within them, which sounds pretty darn enticing to us.

Curious about these claims, our very own Kate Kesselman, host of the Take My Money series, tries the viral PMD SilkSteam Pro ($159) to see if it actually delivers.

Watch the video below to see her honest review.

In the video, Kate starts by showing us how to use the SilkSteam Pro, which seems fairly straightforward. "First things first, we have to push this little button," she explains, pressing it to reveal a pop-out water tank," and then, "fill this guy up with water."

Kate then shows a closeup of the top nozzle, which is adjustable, so you can easily direct the steam wherever you want it to go. It takes about 30 seconds for the device to heat up, and the brand recommends sitting near the steamer for 15 minutes to enjoy the SilkSteam Pro's full effects.

"This feels so good," she says, before adding that it's similar to the sensation of being in a steam room or sauna.

So, is the buzzy PMD SilkSteam Pro worth the investment? Check out Kate's final verdict in the video above.

  • heats up in just 30 seconds
  • produces a silky, cloud-like steam
  • can add essential oils to the filter
